Announcement, October 2, 2019:

California Preservation Program to Reduce Services

The California Preservation Program (CPP) has enjoyed grant support from the California State Library since its inception in 2001. However, State Library grant support ended in September 2019, so several of the CPP’s free education and consulting services have been placed on hold while new support is sought.

The CPP will continue to support the Emergency Toll-Free Number, 1.888.905.7737, which is staffed 24/7 and should be used if you have an emergency involving the collections.

Many thanks for your work to preserve our heritage collections. If you have questions, concerns, or wish to express your support for continuation of CPP services, please contact the CPP Steering Committee at

The California Preservation Program (CPP) provides information, education, and expert assistance on preservation of collections to libraries, archives, historical societies, history museums, and records repositories in California.
